Icicle Hike in Fern Dell

Meet at the Pulpit Rock parking lot for a fun winter hike in search of an incredible natural phenomenon: icy stalactites and stalagmites formed by seeping water flowing through the porous rocks down in the Fern Dell Gorge. During the hike we will also discuss some geology and ecology of the park.
Be sure to be prepared with warm clothing and proper footwear, if it’s icy, it’s recommended to have snowshoes or ice cleats.
A 2025 state park admission pass is required. Parking lot is small so carpool if you can. Lot is about 3/4 mile west of park office on Fern Dell Road.
