Did You Know …

Despite the innovative water parks and shiny, new roller coasters roaring, the Wisconsin Dells is actually more than 150 years old. It was established in 1856, but, really, the Dells’ history goes back even further. And we mean waaay back.

During the Cambrian period, more than 500 million years ago, sandy shores were cemented into rock. It’s that sandstone that was later shaped and eroded into gorges, bluffs, and canyons by the meltwaters that acted as a dam for Glacial Lake Wisconsin. Fast-forward to today, and the natural wonders now lining Wisconsin Dells are the perfect backdrop for a thrilling adventure.
