The world-class American Players Theatre is the country’s second largest outdoor theater devoted to the classics. It’s located just outside Spring Green, on 110 acres of hilly woods and meadows, and in addition to its outdoor amphitheater that seats nearly 1,150, it also houses the more intimate indoor Touchstone Theatre, which seats 200 comfortably.
Theater fans young and old will delight in the APT’s lineup, which covers favorites like Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility and Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The theater’s mission is to make these great works accessible to as wide and varied an audience as possible, as well as educating younger generations in the joys of classic theater.
APT is in action in the summer and fall months, producing eight plays in rotation, with five at the amphitheater and three in the Touchstone Theater. Luckily, the upcoming season’s lineup has already been listed, so you can start planning today.
