Christmas at the Mansion returns this year with three days to experience the warmth, charm, and cheer of the holiday season. Throughout the historic Van Orden Mansion at 531 Fourth Avenue in Baraboo twelve real Christmas trees and the rooms they are in will be decorated taking inspiration from this year’s theme – “Stories of Christmas.” The first-floor rooms will be decorated to A Christmas Carol, A Cranberry Christmas, the Nutcracker, the Elves and the Shoemaker, and the Biblical Christmas story. The second-floor rooms will be decorated to A Visit from St. Nicholas, Frosty the Snowman, The Snow Tree, The Lump of Coal, The Dragon in the Christmas Tree, Izod -The Christmas Dragon, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, American St. Nick, and the story of George Washington crossing the Delaware on Christmas Day. The mansion will be open from 2 to 7 pm each day from December 8 to 10. Live music will fill the mansion as soloists and ensembles play Christmas music on variety of instruments. The dining room table in the mansion will be piled high with Christmas cookies, and other refreshments. Don’t miss this annual holiday tradition brought to you by the Sauk County Historical Society! On Saturday, December 9 horse and carriage rides around the block will be available from 2 to 5 pm.
