The Reedsburg Kiwanis is sponsoring the 23rd annual Lazy Beaver Canoe and Kayak Race on the Baraboo River on Saturday, July 29, 2023. The race’s starting point is in LaValle on the south side of the river, east of the Highway 58 bridge. The finish line is the Granite Avenue boat landing in Reedsburg, where the awards ceremony and post race picnic are also held.
The race begins at 10 a.m. with paddlers released in timed intervals in order to space out paddlers on the river, which is narrow in many spots.
The entry fee is $20 per paddler up until July 15. After that the entry fee is $25 per paddler. The entry fee includes a Lazy Beaver water bottle/or t-shirt (Limited supply of shirts) and a picnic lunch of sandwiches and pop after the race.
Register online at https://friendsoftheboo.org/
Early entry is encouraged as it helps Kiwanis in pre-race planning. Any profits from the race go toward river-related improvement efforts and youth-related projects.
